The State of the States in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Project of National Significance has provided critical information on national and state revenues, spending, and programmatic trends in IDD services and supports for 35 years. The information collected through collaboration with state agencies reveals the longitudinal impact of federal and state fiscal policies on innovations in the support and services system in the states and nation.

In this webinar, Dr. David Braddock, Senior Associate Vice President of the University of Colorado (CU) System, Executive Director of the Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities, will present the results of the 2017 data collection efforts and discuss emerging financial and programmatic trends.

With the renewal of the Community Care Waiver, launch of the Supports Program, and shift to a Medicaid based, Fee-for-Service System individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have unprecedented access to services and supports that can assist them in attaining their desired quality of life. This webinar will discuss how information gathered during the service planning process can help link the individual to DDD services that can support him/her in these six life areas:

The New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) has begun transitioning adult services (ages 21+) from a contract reimbursement system to a fee-for-service system. This change will dramatically affect the way individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities access services through DDD. This presentation will help families understand the new system and learn ways in which they can start to prepare.

Join The Arc of Essex County, for our Annual Membership Meeting and a free housing workshop on Monday, June 19th at 7 p.m presented by The Arc of New Jersey Family Institute, and the Supportive Housing Association of New Jersey (SHA). Speakers will discuss how to utilize SHA’s recently published housing guide, The Journey to Community Housing with Supports, to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in New Jersey. Attendees will learn: 

  • Various housing models available in New Jersey
  • How innovative elements from the guide can be incorporated into affordable housing in a variety of residential settings
  • How to utilize the resources available from multiple sources to fund housing and supportive services
  • Challenges and clear opportunities associated with planning for independent living

Individuals and families interested in residential placement options should attend this session. Space is limited; RSVPs will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.
