ROSELAND—Those who have difficulty climbing stairs at the borough’s municipal building at 19 Harrison Ave. to attend weekly Municipal Court sessions, or to participate in daily activities at the Arc of Essex County’s Stepping Stones School soon will have a ramp to ease their access.
At a special public meeting Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Borough Council approved the low bid of $37,400 from PAL Pro Builders LLC of Elmwood Park to construct a ramp for the handicapped at the rear of the 19 Harrison Ave. building, which is also the site each month of the governing body’s televised meetings, and a polling place on Election Days.
The Arc of Essex County has been providing Roseland with supplemental revenue through the leasing fee it has been paying to the borough since moving in on June 15, 2011. The Arc’s Stepping Stones School is private and non-profit providing education for developmentally disabled children in the preschool and elementary age group.
