TapINTO Livingston Recounts Highlights from the 2015 Uncorked & Uncapped: Wine, Beer, and Food Fest

The Arc of Essex County hosted its second annual Uncorked & Uncapped: Wine, Beer, and Food Fest on Sept. 24 at the Westminster Hotel in Livingston. Funds raised will support The Arc’s programs and services that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
More than 250 attendees enjoyed a fun-filled evening of fine wine, craft beer, spirits, and restaurant samplings from more than 30 local establishments. During the evening, The Arc recognized individuals and groups whose longstanding support and service has been integral to the agency’s success.
- Corporate Partner Award: Todd W. Polyniak, CPA, SaxBST
- Public Partner Award: Joseph Tempesta, Jr., Mayor of West Caldwell and Business Administrator of East Hanover
- Community Partner Award: Knights of Columbus: East Hanover, Fairfield, Livingston, Montclair, Short Hills, and Verona
- Lifetime Achievement Award: John O’Brien, Secretary of the Board of Directors for The Arc of Essex County.
The evening concluded with the crowning of the “2015 Uncorked & Uncapped Brew Master.” John Byrne of Hopatcong, NJ took home first prize with his “One Half Ale,” a homebrewed English Nut Brown Ale. In second place was Jim Cully of Catawissa, PA with his “See You in Helles” Munich Helles brew. Rounding out the top three was Jan Chwiedosiuk of Stirling, NJ with his “Snowtober” Coffee Vanilla Porter.
"All of the food and beverages at the event were truly outstanding," said Livingston resident Marnie McNany. "In it's second year, Uncorked and Uncapped is getting bigger and better. I enjoyed the repeat-favorite cheeseburger sliders from Verona Inn and the Australian wines from The A-List. We are already looking forward to the event in 2016."
Attendees also enjoyed fares ranging from seasonal pumpkin ales from River Horse Brewing and Climax Brewing Company, to pork meatball lollipops from Pig and Prince, and chicken wellington with a pomegranate reduction and gourmet cupcakes from Stone Soup catering company.
