The Arc Remembers Anthony Velasquez

It is with tremendous sadness that The Arc of Essex County announces the passing of Anthony Velasquez. Anthony came to The Arc in July 2019 and moved into the Verona Group Home where he met new friends whom he would later refer to as his brothers. Even after he moved to the Crisis group home, he would eat breakfast with his best friend Alex every day via FaceTime. Anthony had a vibrant personality and wouldn’t let you walk by without telling you to “have a blessed day.” He was bilingual and loved to sing. He was often found listening to music and freestyle dancing in his room during his free time. He loved electronics and staff would routinely seek his advice before they made any purchases. He truly enjoyed going out on various activities, including dinners, movies, and bowling, but his ultimate favorites were adventure-seeking trips. He would go to Great Adventure routinely and ride every roller-coaster in the park! Anthony warmed the hearts of everyone he encountered and would do his best to bring a smile to your face or joy to your day. He will be greatly missed.
