The Arc of Essex County is saddened at the passing of James Hornchak in June. James was 55 years old and was born in Newark. He joined The Arc’s residential family in 1993, spending time at the Crisis Apartment and the Nutley Group Home before finding his permanent home at the West Orange Group Home in 1995. James’s bedroom was his sanctuary where he could most often be found listening to country music on his radio. James enjoyed and appreciated the simple things in life: his bedroom, a nice dinner out, and an occasional movie. James looked forward to phone calls from his mom and loved attending his day program. He always dressed to impress regardless if he was staying home or going out, and was very attached to his routine. He was loved and cared for by many and will be sorely missed.
