Virtual Gourmet Chocolate Tasting

Tune into your senses and immerse yourself in the aromas, textures, tastes, colors and intricacies of fine flavor cacao by sampling award-winning craft chocolate bars from all over the world during a couples virtual Gourmet Chocolate Tasting on Saturday, February 13 from 8:30-9:30 p.m. 

Benefiting The Arc of Essex County, Nadine Kerstan, certified Chocolate Sommelier, judge for the International Chocolate Awards and owner of the online boutique, Barometer Chocolate, will guide you through tasting 4 award-winning bean-to-bar chocolates.

You’ll learn about the art of savoring chocolate and increase your enjoyment and knowledge about this “food of the gods” in a 60-minute, delightful and celebratory workshop. Fred Buglione is the President & CEO of the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) and has been leading the organization since 2014. Fred has twenty years of experience supporting the education and inclusion of students and adults in the tri-state area. He is currently on several state and national working groups seeking to increase access to inclusive education.

The Relationship Between Autism Spectrum Disorder and Criminal Responsibility- Part 2

Please join us in the second of a two-part series where Nancy Kaser-Boyd, Ph.D., Clinical Professor of Psychology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA will discuss how a diagnosed mental disorder should relate to the criminal justice standard of criminal responsibility, or men's rea, as an element of prosecution. She will elaborate on the chapter Criminal Responsibility, authored for the book Representing People with ASD, edited by attorney Elizabeth Kelley.

College Options for Students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

College can be a great option for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). A growing number of programs offer varied opportunities to learn academic, career, and independent living skills as they prepare for employment. Join The Arc of New Jersey Family Institute as we discuss different programs offered in New Jersey and possible ways to pay for college. Additionally, we will discuss how to write IEP goals for post-secondary options when working with the Child Study Team.
