As New Jersey’s Division of Developmental Disabilities continues to transition to the fee-for-service system and 2020 graduates approach the end of the school year, families will be asked to choose a support coordinator. Your support coordinator is a critical part of you and your family member’s ability to successfully access and maintain services. The graduating class of 2020 will need to identify a support coordinator before services can begin after graduation.

If you do not have a support coordinator or are unhappy with your current support coordinator and would like to select a new one, join us for a “Meet the Support Coordination Agencies” event on Tuesday, February 25th from 6-8 p.m. in Maplewood. Meet the agencies currently serving Essex County to make the best choice for you and your family.

A light dinner will be served. For additional information and to RSVP,
contact Carmela Angelo at (973) 535-1181 ext. 1245 or cangelo@arcessex.org.

This webinar will provide an overview of several ways that individuals with I/DD can be eligible for Medicaid, and will answer these questions:

  • How can an individual with I/DD continue to have Medicaid when there is a change in Social Security benefits (from SSI to SSDI) because of the retirement, disability, or death of a parent?
  • What happens if an individual with I/DD (who never received SSI) is receiving a Social Security benefit from the parent's work record which is too high to qualify for any of the reglar NJ Medicaid categories?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of NJ WorkAbility for individuals with I/DD who are employed?
  • What is the difference between Managed Long-Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) and other types of Medicaid?
