Are you or a loved one interested in learning more about The Arc of Essex County’s programs and services?  Register to tour our innovative Day Programs the last Wednesday of each month, beginning Wednesday, March 25 at our Opportunity Zone Day Program in Maplewood or Wednesday, April 29th at our West Caldwell Hub.

For many people, a job is something that helps define who they are. It gives us a meaningful place to go everyday, a way to explore our interests, a means of earning money, and a way to be a part of our community. This workshop will discuss different employment options available to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and hands—on tools for preparing students for employment.

The Arc of Essex County’s Department of Children’s Services is excited to announce the addition of a Health and Wellness program with personal trainer, registered behavior technician, and special needs mom, Yomi Karade.  Held on Sunday, April 5 and Sunday, May 3 at The Arc’s Stepping Stones School in Roseland, this two-part program features an hour of small group exercises followed by a nutrition hour where participants will prepare a healthy snack & learn about healthy choices.

The program runs from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and costs $35 per session. Registrants must be able to commit to both sessions. There are only 12 spots available for this program. The New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) may be able to assist students ages 14-21 with disabilities who need services to prepare for, get, and keep a job. Its goal for students through its Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) is to create a smooth transition from school to work so that upon graduation, a student is prepared to begin work or post-secondary training that leads to employment.

This webinar is hosted by The Arc of New Jersey Family Institute and presented by Cheri R. Thompson, M.S., C.P.M., Program Planning and Development Specialist 1 at Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

Living a healthy lifestyle is important for so many reasons. However, children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities face challenges related to eating healthy, maintaining weight, and being physically active. Join The Arc of New Jersey Family Institute and the Get FIT program as we provide caregivers with an overview of fitness and nutrition with a special focus on helping families to engage their children with I/DD in their own health and wellness.

Join The Arc of Essex County for its expanded Parents Night Out program.  Designed for children ages 5 - 22, this program features a themed night of arts and crafts, games, snacks, and more while mom and dad take a break to relax and recharge.
