Camp Hope Gears Up for an Unforgettable Summer

July 1st, 2021

On Monday, June 28th, The Arc of Essex County’s Camp Hope opened for its milestone 65th anniversary season. The camp will return to its traditional 7-week format after an abridged season in 2020, with 175 campers expected throughout the summer.

The heat was no match for the lively spirit at camp as “Operation Discovery” week kicked into high gear. Science came alive as campers watched different chemical reactions with fun experiments such as elephant toothpaste. Later in the week, celery stamp rainbow fish, a nature scavenger hunt, and sponge fish relays were just a few of the highlights.  Campers beat the heat cooling off each day in the pool and splash pad.

Many camp classics including the Car Wash, Tie Dye Tuesday and Camp Olympics will take place later this month.
