Home Assistance Program Holiday Drive: A Community Collaboration
December 18th, 2020
Throughout the months of November and December The Arc of Essex County accepted holiday drive donations for members of its Home Assistance Program (HAP). Due to ongoing COVID concerns, the annual holiday celebration was reimagined, and instead donations of toys, warm winter coats, and a holiday meal were delivered directly to The Arc’s neediest families
The Arc of Essex County would like to thank the community for their tremendous contributions. ShopRite/Wakefern graciously donated turkeys and gift cards while Sax, LLC and the United Way donated toys. Members of community and The Arc of Essex County’s staff and Board ensured each HAP family in need received new winter coats.
The HAP program provides services in the areas of transportation, community resources, housing, navigating school systems, recreation, and at times skill trainings to low income families whose child and/or parent has an intellectual or developmental disability. The goal is to maintain the family unit, attain independence, and assist parents and families in becoming more self-sufficient both economically and personally.
If you or a loved one is interested in joining the HAP program, please contact Laurie Best, Senior Director of Children & Adult Day Services, to see if you qualify. Laurie can be reached at (973) 535-1181 ext. 1264 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
