Stepping Stones Students Learn the Value of Money and Enjoy a Sweet Treat
August 4th, 2017
Thanks once again to the generosity of The Candle Lighters, students from the Stepping Stones School and Camp Hope were treated to ice cream from the Towne Scoop Ice Cream Truck. During this annual visit, students and campers learn the value of money and how to make change while selecting their favorite frozen treat.
Established as a 501(c)3 organization in 1974, The Candle Lighters are dedicated to raising resources for The Arc of Essex County's unfunded and under-funded programs. Benefiting programs include Camp Hope, the Stepping Stones Early Intervention program, and recreation programs for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arc of Essex County's Stepping Stones School is a Department of Education approved private school for students with disabilities serving children ages 3-10. Located in Roseland, NJ, the school is designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of children with cognitive impairments such as Down syndrome and other students with similar educational and developmental needs.
