Life Management Respite focuses on providing in-home individual behavioral supports to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Through a thorough intake and assessment process, a Life Management Plan is developed for each participant by a clinical support specialist. This plan is devised through home visits, on-site assessments, as well as information from the participant’s day program and includes the needs and services to be provided to the consumer and their family.
Based on this plan, an individual Life Management worker is hired and trained by the Arc of Essex County to implement the strategies to achieve the desired goals. Family and caregiver training is emphasized. Staff can work with the child either in their home or community.
