The day was beautiful, the golf was excellent, the on-course beer and spirits tastings were refreshing, and the food was delicious at the 2nd Annual Craft Beer Open, which raised funds for The Arc of Essex County while delivering a fun day to participants.
The event, which was held at the Crestmont Country Club in West Orange on Monday, September 12, took place under sunny skies and featured on-course tastings from tasting partners Allagash Brewing Co, Four City Brewing, Troegs Independent Brewing, and Next Century Spirits. After completing 18 challenging holes of golf, attendees gathered for a dinner reception sponsored by PSEG that featured food tastings from Ah’ Pizz, Chef Jesse Concepts, Crestmont Country Club, NOM, The Office, and Town Bar + Kitchen, as well as wine tastings from Organic Vintages and cigar sampling from Suero Cigars.
The reception also celebrated the excellence on the course, and golf awards were presented: Sean Adams, Lynn Manganard, Cassandra Orr, and Larry Stephenson finished as the first place team; Michael Marchese, Jeff Kopelman, Steve Chemi, and Greg Angelillo came in second place; and Steve Hennesey, Frank O’Brien, Bill Frese, and Mike McFadden finished third. Closest to the pin winners were John Lucas, Mike Franchino, and Cassandra Orr. Winners received gift cards to the Crestmont Pro Shop. Unfortunately, no golfers hit the hole in one to win the prize vehicle donated by Prestige Volvo.
