Twenty children registered for The Arc of Essex County’s Teachers’ Convention Camp that was held on November 9 and 10 at Studio Arc. Participants took part in circus yoga, took art classes with Studio Arc creative arts manager Debra McGauley-Eichhorn, and enjoyed Zumba fitness class together. The days also featured a variety of games, including playing on the interactive Obie board.
In December, The Arc of Essex County will once again host a camp during school break, with free December Break Camp at Studio Arc on December 26, 27, 28, and 29. Open to ages 5 to 20, with 3-to-1 staff support provided for all participants including siblings, the morning sessions run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the afternoon sessions run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children can also sign up for the full day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Note: 1-to-1 support may be available upon request and for a fee.) For parents who would like to get a break before the school break to do some holiday shopping or enjoy a dinner out, The Arc of Essex County’s December Parents’ Night Out event is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 15 at Studio Arc (264 Passaic Ave, Fairfield). The program is free, but space is limited and registration is required. Pizza dinner can be purchased for $5 (fee due at registration), or participants may bring their own dinner. The event is open to ages 5-21, with 3-to-1 staff provided for all participants including siblings, though 1-to-1 support may be available upon request.
