Rock the 21, a New Jersey-based nonprofit and supporter of The Arc of Essex County, is bringing back its “Rockin’ Scholar” Scholarship Program for people with Down syndrome.

The organization’s mission is to raise awareness about Down syndrome, encourage inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to provide support and services for people with Down syndrome and their families. The scholarship program started in 2023 to help finance higher education and/or employment training for people with Down syndrome. Applicants must have a Down syndrome diagnosis and be enrolled in a certificate or undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university of the student’s choice for the upcoming academic year. Alternatively, applicants can be attending a work program and/or an employment or vocational training program. The applicant should reside in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or the greater tri-state area. Applications for the 2024-2025 academic school year will be open through August 16, 2024, and applicants will be notified of scholarship status in early September.
