The beautiful October weather gave The Arc of Essex County’s Adult Recreation participants lots of opportunities to enjoy the season and make memories together.
On October 6, a Community Inclusion group enjoyed a day out at the Caldwell Street Fair, where they enjoyed rides, live music, arts and crafts, and a variety of regional foods. The Arc thanks the volunteers from the Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex for such a wonderful day exploring downtown Caldwell.
On October 20, a trip to Alstede Farm in Chester featured apple picking, pumpkin picking, a hayride, apple treats, and a visit with friendly farm animals.
A Halloween Spooktacular Dance for Group Respite on October 27 gave partygoers a chance to wear their spooky and funny costumes and move to the music together. The group also played Halloween games and completed crafts together.
Hotel Respite, which ran from October 25 to 27, also included a variety of seasonal activities, including a Halloween Party hosted by the Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities, as well as pumpkin picking and a hayride together. They also completed a few rounds of bowling, which is always a crowd favorite.
The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences. If your loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities is interested in educational programming, community experiences, seasonally themed events, or weekend group respite programs, you can learn more about all of these activities at The Arc’s Recreation Services page, and view the Fall Recreation Catalog. Activities include crafting at Studio Arc, day trips to local attractions, seasonal parties, and more.
