In celebration of Direct Support Professional Recognition Week from September 8 to 14, The Arc of Essex County celebrated the hundreds of DSPs on staff with a series of special acts of appreciation.

Each DSP received an Arc belt bag as well as a collection of snacks and treats throughout the week. On Friday, all staff was encouraged to wear their favorite jerseys to work to celebrate the teamwork that takes place among our direct support team every day.

A thank-you video from The Arc of Essex County’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer went out to all DSP staff members as well. “Your dedication, compassion, and hard work make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve,” CEO Linda Lucas said during her remarks. “You are the backbone of our organization, and we couldn’t do what we do without you.”

COO Kathleen Hinnigan-Cohen added, “During DSP Recognition Week, we celebrate you and the vital role you play in our Arc family. Thank you for your tireless efforts and for being the front-line heroes that you are.”

During DSP Week and throughout the year, The Arc of Essex County thanks each of the DSP staff in The Arc community as well as across the industry for all they do every day to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their care.
