Glowing and Growing at Stepping Stones in February

The Arc of Essex County’s Stepping Stones School bustled through February, marking the school’s one-year anniversary in the new expanded location in Fairfield while also enjoying a busy month of learning and celebrations together.

On February 7, Dr. Stacy Oberfield visited the students as part of National Children’s Dental Health Month. She taught the children about why tooth care is important, and students even got to practice on her stuffed dog, Bruno. Dr. Oberfield gifted dental supplies to all of the children at the school. And she visited on a particularly festive day, as the children and staff were wearing sports jerseys in anticipation of that weekend’s Super Bowl.

February 10 was the 100th day of school, which featured an extra groovy glow party in the Primary classroom.

On February 12, the Paper Mill Playhouse Children’s Traveling Theatre Group visited and gave a performance of Alice in Wonderland for the students.

And of course Valentine’s Day was a busy day at the school, as children exchanged Valentines, enjoyed special meals together, and dressed up in red and pink for the holiday.

The Arc of Essex County’s Stepping Stones School is a Department of Education-approved private school for students with disabilities. Located in Fairfield, NJ, the school is designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of children with cognitive impairments such as Down syndrome and other students with similar educational and developmental needs.
