Adult Recreation Roundup

A group of adults line dance in a large room together

Participants in The Arc of Essex County’s Adult Recreation, Group Respite, and Community Inclusion programs enjoyed a busy March together. Recent activities included:

  • A trip to Beyond the Boogie Dance Company on March 2 in Montclair for an afternoon of line dancing fun
  • A “Matinee and Mingle” on March 9, where moviegoers watched Captain America at AMC Clifton and talked about the movie while out together for a meal afterwards
  • A trip to Somerville for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 16
  • A bustling Hotel Respite Weekend from March 21 to 23 that included bowling, shopping, viewing a play at Plainfield High School, and celebrating March birthdays
  • The start of the newest “Tasty Treats” cooking class series, which is focused on “international dinners” so far has featured spaghetti and meatballs (Italy), egg rolls (China), and Empanadas (Mexico)

The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences. If your loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities is interested in educational programming, community experiences, seasonally themed events, or weekend group respite programs, you can learn more about all of these activities at The Arc’s Recreation Services page, and view the newly redesigned Spring-Summer Recreation Catalog. Activities include crafting at Studio Arc, day trips to local attractions, seasonal parties, and more.
