The Arc of Essex County is looking for students in grades 3-12 to be Student Champions for our 26th Annual Building Tomorrows 5K Run, Walk, & Fun Fest on Saturday, April 27. A Student Champion is the “face” of the event and uses his or her personal story to inspire, engage and educate the community. The Student Champion could have a disability, have a loved one with a disability, or simply be inspired by the mission of The Arc and want to support children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Through forming walk teams, participating in media interviews, and conducting public outreach, Student Champions energize others to get involved with The Arc and with the Building Tomorrows event. In addition to gaining experience as volunteers and fundraisers, the Student Champion Program provides opportunities to the participants to build friendships with fellow leaders in their schools and community.
Applications are due by February 16, 2024, and Student Champions will be notified by February 26, 2024. Any questions about the program can be directed to Amanda Rovner at 973-535-1181 ext. 1227 or [email protected].
