Adult Recreation Roundup: December 2024

A large group of adults, many wearing holiday clothing and standing together in front of a holiday scene backdrop.

During the month of December, the adults participating in The Arc of Essex County’s Recreation Programs enjoyed a variety of fun activities, including:

  • A Winter WonderLights drive-through show on December 1, where participants experienced the magic of more than 1.5 million lights animated to holiday music, including tunnels and giant displays
  • “Holly Jolly Shopping and Lunch” at the Willowbrook Mall, where shoppers could purchase holiday gifts for their loved ones before gathering for a meal together
  • Giftwrapping and Carols at Opportunity Zone, where folks learned how to best wrap the items they brought with them while singing favorite holiday tunes
  • Bowling trips to Bowlero in Belleville on December 7, 14, and 21
  • Seasonal crafts and music at After-Work Respite and Saturday Group Respite
  • Hotel Respite fun during the weekend of December 13 to 15, including a trip to SYA in Nutley for a holiday party

The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences. If your loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities is interested in educational programming, community experiences, seasonally themed events, or weekend group respite programs, you can learn more about all of these activities at The Arc’s Recreation Services page, and view the newly redesigned Winter Recreation Catalog. Activities include crafting at Studio Arc, day trips to local attractions, seasonal parties, and more.
