September was full of fun opportunities for The Arc’s Adult Recreation participants, including:
- Matinee and Mingle on September 7, which featured a trip to the movies to see The Fantastic Four followed by a film discussion over a meal together.
- Bowling participants enjoyed friendly games at Bowlero Belleville on September 6, 13, and 27.
- Group Respite held a “Farm to Table” gathering on September 14, which included fresh seasonal produce to make fruit and vegetable salads of choice.
- On September 21, the Community Inclusion group created a fall pumpkin craft together at Studio Arc in Fairfield.
- On September 28, a group visited the Bear Mountain Inn on the Hudson River in New York for a brunch overlooking the Hudson Valley, followed by a stroll on a hiking trail and a trip to the indoor carousel at Restaurant 1915.
- Hotel Respite Weekend from September 26 to 28 was packed with activities, including birthday celebrations and a lunch cruise on the Hudson River to view the Statue of Liberty.
- Saturday Respite participants enjoyed a fun day out in the community at a health fair hosted by Gospel Light Church in Newark on September 13, where visitors received clothing, footwear, and other items. On September 27, Saturday Respite enjoyed the House Music Festival at Branch Brook park in Newark, where they danced, sang, and visited the vendors on site.
- The West Caldwell Hub After-Work Program went on a special shopping trip to Five Below, where they selected and checked out their purchased items themselves. They also enjoyed doing craft projects with the help of visiting Studio Arc staff.
The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences.
