New Children and Teen Classes at Studio Arc this Spring

Animal Yoga, Tumbling Ninjas, and Teen Jam Band are among the new classes scheduled for The Arc of Essex County’s youngest participants at Studio Arc this spring.

Offered on Tuesday afternoons, Animal Yoga will allow young yogis, ages 6 to 12, to learn simple animal and nature poses to stretch, move, and calm their bodies and minds. Participants will join friends in fun yoga games to reinforce what they learn, explore the world through play, and socialize with one another. Classes are scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. on April 2, 16, and 30, May 14, and June 4 and 18, and include a 1:3 staff ratio. Register at https://bit.ly/AnimalYogaSpring24.

Also offered on Tuesdays, Tumble Ninjas is a dynamic children’s class combines different elements of circus yoga, mixed martial arts, and kick boxing to help build strength, stamina, and spirit. Participants ages 6 to 12 will stretch, move, and jump through fun obstacle courses and exercises while developing social skills, focus, and body awareness. Classes are from 4 to 5 p.m. on April 9 and 23, May 7 and 21, and June 11 and 25, with a 1:3 staff ratio. Register at https://bit.ly/NinjaSpring24.

For the older crowd, Studio Arc Jam Band will give teens the opportunity to experiment with different rhythms, grooves, rock genres, and chord patterns—no prior musical experience necessary. Participants ages 13 to 20 can explore improvisational music while creating musical vibes with fellow band members. Classes take place on Saturdays from 4 to 5 p.m., including April 6, 20, and 27; May 18; and June 1 and 15. Register at https://bit.ly/JamBandSpring24.

In addition, Communi-Play classes continue twice a month on Saturday mornings for children ages 2.5 to 5, with an art class following the second session of each month. Upcoming dates include April 13 and 27, May 4 and 18, and June 8 and 22. (Classes start at 10:30 a.m.) In these interactive “communication parties,” children gain confidence as they practice communication and conversation skills such as listening, eye contact, body language, and gestures. Register at https://bit.ly/communi-play.

Parents’ Night Out at Studio Arc is scheduled for Friday, April 19 at Studio Arc. Parents and guardians can drop off their children, ages 5 to 21, who will participate in a variety of fun activities from 6 to 9 p.m. Space is limited, email tjohnson-hall@arcessex.org for more information.
