The Arc of Essex County’s Adult Recreation, Group Respite, and Community Inclusion participants have been enjoying a busy spring season. Recent activities have included:
- A Cinco de Mayo Spring Fling party on May 4, where partygoers played games, won prizes, danced, and enjoyed a Mexican meal with their peers
- Bowling trips to Bowlero Belleville on May 3, 17, and 31, where the group bowled two games and enjoyed a pizza lunch and a beverage of their choice
- A fun Hotel Respite Weekend from May 16 to 18, with 23 participants partaking in a variety of activities together, including a trip to the movies, bowling, a shopping excursion, and a celebration of May birthdays with cake and singing
- Matinee and Mingle on May 18, during which the group watched Thunderbolts at AMC Clifton
- A trip to the Point Pleasant Boardwalk on June 1, complete with a visit to Jenkinson’s Aquarium, arcade games at Pavilion Arcade, a breezy stroll on the Boardwalk, a lovely sit-down dinner with peers at Pavilion Oceanview, and an opportunity to enjoy beautiful beach weather
The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences. If your loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities is interested in educational programming, community experiences, seasonally themed events, or weekend group respite programs, you can learn more about all of these activities at The Arc’s Recreation Services page, and view the Spring-Summer Recreation Catalog. Activities include crafting at Studio Arc, day trips to local attractions, seasonal parties, and more.
