Adult Recreation Roundup

A group of adults gathered around a kitchen work table, spreading out personal pizza dough.

Participants in The Arc of Essex County’s Adult Recreation, Group Respite, and Community Inclusion have been busy with recent activities, including:

  • A wreath-making class at Studio Arc on June 8, where crafters made vibrant wreaths to reflect the summer season
  • Casino Royale Day on June 22, where participants enjoyed a rotation of casino games and won prizes
  • An action-packed Hotel Respite weekend from June 27 to 29, which included a trip to see The Little Mermaid at Paper Mill Playhouse, bowling at Linden Lanes, and June birthday celebrations
  • A cake and pizza-making class on June 29, in which budding chefs chose their own pizza toppings and cake decorations
  • The completion of another great year of bowling, with Saturday sessions on June 7, 21, and 28; the June 28 gathering also featured a banquet celebration (Bowling will start up again on July 19.)

The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences. If your loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities is interested in educational programming, community experiences, seasonally themed events, or weekend group respite programs, you can learn more about all of these activities at The Arc’s Recreation Services page, and view the Spring-Summer Recreation Catalog. Activities include crafting at Studio Arc, day trips to local attractions, seasonal parties, and more.
