Adult Recreation Roundup

The holidays are always a great excuse to get together, and our Arc Recreation participants gathered for a variety of seasonal activities in December:

  • Holly Jolly Shopping and Lunch at the mall on December 7, which gave participants the chance to pick out special gifts for their loved ones
  • Hotel Respite Weekend from December 12 to 14, including the annual holiday party at SYA with singing, dancing, crafts, and games together—and a visit from Santa himself! The group also went holiday shopping, wrapped gifts, and enjoyed a performance in Newark.
  • Winter Wonder Lights on December 21, where participants drove through four tunnels and past giant holiday light displays, altogether featuring more than 1.5 million lights animated to holiday music
  • Bowling trips on December 6, 13, and 20, where bowlers practiced keeping score and cheering each other on

The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences. If your loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities is interested in educational programming, community experiences, seasonally themed events, or weekend group respite programs, you can learn more about all of these activities at The Arc’s Recreation Services page, and view the current Recreation Catalog. Activities include crafting at Studio Arc, day trips to local attractions, seasonal parties, and more.
