Adult Recreation Roundup

Participants in The Arc of Essex County’s Adult Recreation, Respite, and Community Inclusion programs enjoyed a variety of social, recreational, and engaging activities in March, including:

  • A “Sunday Matinee & Mingle” outing on March 8, featuring the movie “I Still Believe,” followed by lunch to discuss their favorite scenes together
  • Bowling together at Bowlero Belleville on March 14, 21, and 28, where participants practiced teamwork, took turns, and cheered each other on during friendly competition
  • Hotel Respite Weekend March 20 to 22, which included a trip to see a performance of Frozen at Union High School
  • A “Spring Ball” on March 22, where the group dressed up and danced together
  • A “See, Sip, & Paint” afternoon on March 29 that featured socializing while painting together, followed by lunch
  • Creating delicious homemade dishes together at the Tasty Treats cooking classes on Wednesday nights, including eggplant parmesan and individual vegetable pot pies
  • Enjoying time together through ongoing weekend recreation and social opportunities that encourage friendship-building, communication, and community engagement

The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences. If your loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities is interested in educational programming, community experiences, seasonally themed events, or weekend group respite programs, you can learn more about all of these activities at The Arc’s Recreation Services page, and view the current Recreation Catalog. Activities include crafting at Studio Arc, day trips to local attractions, seasonal parties, and more.
