Adult Recreation Roundup

Participants in The Arc of Essex County’s Adult Recreation, Respite, and Community Inclusion programs enjoyed a variety of social, recreational, and engaging activities throughout May, including:

  • A festive Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 3, where participants made and painted their own maracas out of empty water bottles, danced to mariachi music, and enjoyed taco bowls with a variety of toppings
  • Bowling outings on May 2, 16, and 30 at Bowlero Belleville, where participants practiced teamwork, sportsmanship, and friendly competition while enjoying pizza and a beverage with peers
  • A “Matinee & Mingle” outing on May 17, where participants enjoyed a trip to the movies to see the Michael Jackson biopic, followed by lunch and conversation about their favorite scenes
  • A Community Inclusion trip to Point Pleasant Boardwalk on May 31, complete with a visit to Jenkinson’s Aquarium, arcade games, a stroll along the boardwalk, and a group lunch overlooking the ocean
  • A fun-filled Hotel Respite Weekend from May 29 to 31 that featured a trip to Rhythm and Blues by the Brook at Cedar Brook Park, including musical entertainment, vendors, a car show, and picnicking; shopping at Walmart; a pizza dinner; and birthday celebrations

The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences.
