Camp Hope closed the book on a milestone summer in August, wrapping up its 70th season of fun and friendship for campers of all ages.

Since opening its gates for the season on June 29, campers spent seven weeks enjoying the activities that have made Camp Hope a beloved summer tradition since 1956, including swimming, arts and crafts, sports, games, and plenty of opportunities to connect with friends and try something new.

Each week brought a new theme and a fresh lineup of activities. Campers traveled through the four seasons, celebrated favorite holidays, put their skills and teamwork to the test during Game On! Week, and explored everything under the sun during Discovery Week. Broadway Week brought music and performance into the spotlight, and Disney Week kept the creativity going. Campers also marked Camp Hope’s 70th birthday with special activities throughout the summer.

Camp Hope spirit was on full display during the final week, with campers and staff taking part in themed dress-up days including Crazy Sock Day, Tie-Dye Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Superhero Day, and a festive ’70s Day in honor of 70 years of camp. The week also brought some special visitors to camp: the East Hanover Fire Department stopped by to spend time with campers, while Deb from Studio Arc visited for a special printing project that gave campers another opportunity to get creative.

As another season ends, The Arc of Essex County extends its thanks to the staff, volunteers, families, community partners, donors, and supporters who helped make this milestone summer possible. Their support helps ensure that Camp Hope can continue providing a welcoming place where campers can have fun, build friendships, grow, and make summer memories for many years to come.
