Adult Recreation Lets Creativity Shine

Participants in The Arc of Essex County’s Adult Recreation programs had many opportunities to explore their creative side throughout the month of June.

On June 9, the group danced and sang along with Wilma and the Wingers at Opportunity Zone. On June 23, they came together at Studio Arc to create mosaics, with each artist selecting their tile color theme, designing a layout, and placing the tiles, grouting them, and cleaning them. For Matinee and Mingle on June 30, moviegoers enjoyed Bad Boys 2 and then gathered to discuss their thoughts and ideas coming out of watching the film.

Saturday Respite participants also had opportunities to complete artistic endeavors, creating Father’s Day ties and Fourth of July patriotic visors together.

And the bowling group celebrated the end of another great year at the lanes together, gathering for three bowling sessions during the month of June, and culminating with a bowling banquet on June 30.

The Adult Recreation program is always looking for new ways to enrich the lives of its participants and provide them with enjoyable and meaningful experiences. If your loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities is interested in educational programming, community experiences, seasonally themed events, or weekend group respite programs, you can learn more about all of these activities at The Arc’s Recreation Services page, and view the Spring-Summer Recreation Catalog. Activities include crafting at Studio Arc, trips to Point Pleasant Boardwalk and to Lake Hopatcong, seasonal parties, and more.
