The students at Stepping Stones School have taken a virtual trip to Paris during their Extended School Year, with the Summer Olympics helping shape a variety of lessons and activities.

With weekly school-wide activities, such as a torch-passing ceremony, Olympics-themed bulletin boards throughout the building, social-work sessions that focus on different sports, and classroom activities that feature global and athletic lessons, the Olympics have been a theme throughout the summer season at Stepping Stones. The Extended School Year has also featured water play, yoga, dance classes, and other ways to move bodies and learn new skills while staying cool and being together.

The Arc of Essex County’s Stepping Stones School is a Department of Education approved private school for students with disabilities. Located in Fairfield, NJ, the school is designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of children with cognitive impairments such as Down syndrome and other students with similar educational and developmental needs.
